Boeing launches wideband SATCOM system

Boeing announced that the U.S. Air Force has placed the first Wideband Global SATCOM satellite into operation over the Pacific region. Each satellite has the capacity to transmit information at rates of more than three gigabits per second, according to the company. Each satellite also incorporates multi-beam, X-band communications through phased array antennas and supports cross-banding signals between the X-band and Ka-band.
