Lognes, France-based battery manufacturer Uniross, yesterday announced its acquisition of U.S.-based Multiplier Industries Corp.  According to Walter Ullrich, president, CEO and founder of Multiplier, the acquisition gives Uniross a strategic presence in the U.S. battery market for high-end, two-way radios.

"The attraction of the U.S. market is that more than 50 percent of two-way radio batteries are used in the U.S.," Ullrich said.

Multiplier will manufacture several Uniross products at its Mt. Kisco, N.Y., headquarters, and will sell several of the company's products including rechargeable batteries, alkaline single-cell batteries and single-cell chargers as a result of the acquisition.  However, the Multiplier name will remain, the company will continue to manufacture its own products for the OEM, commercial and public-safety sectors, and all current employees will be retained, Ullrich said.
