Positron Public Safety Systems has been awarded a six-year contract from the Houston—Galveston Area Council for its Voice-over-IP for Emergency Response, or VIPER, system. The system leverages the non-proprietary session initiation protocol for the delivery of voice services. It includes the company's Power 911, Power MAP, Power MIS, ePrinter, Positron Sentry, Centralized GIS and Regional MIS applications that will support E911 services for the area's 23 public safety answering points, according to the company.
