Globecomm Systems lands $20.7 million contact

General Communication, an Alaska-based voice, video and data communication company that serves residential, commercial and government customers, awarded Hauppauge, N.Y.-based Globecomm Systems a $20.7 million network deployment contract. The network will combine Globecomm's SatCell switching solution with UTStarcom's MovingMedia 2000 cellular soft switch platform and Vanu's Anywave Radio Access Network, which contains the first software-defined base station to be certified by the FCC, according to Globecomm.
