Russia to get regional WiMAX networks

Alcatel-Lucent and Synterra, a telecommunications service provider, formed a strategic partnership to deploy Russia's first universal WiMAX networks. The project will be conducted in cooperation with regional telecom operators to provide WiMAX access throughout the country. The first regional WiMAX networks should be operational in the fourth quarter of this year.
