Sheriff's office deploys mobility platform

Research In Motion subsidiary Ascendent Systems and Sprint announced the deployment of Sprint's Mobile Extension platform at the Lee County (Fla.) Sheriff's Office. Now when a call comes in to a desk phone, it also simultaneously rings on the subscriber's mobile devices. Other capabilities include real-time notification and voice conferencing. The county also equipped patrol cars with Sprint's mobile broadband service that supports IP video telephony, push-to-talk service and multiuser video conferencing.
