Ankle monitor tracks S.C. criminal offenders

RemoteMDx’s subsidiary SecureAlert landed a five-year contract worth approximately $21 million from the State of South Carolina for a 24/7 criminal-monitoring system. The system uses a GPS system, two-way voice communication and application software packaged in a tamper-resistant device worn around the offender’s ankle to track his or her movements, according to the company.
