Florida county offers free wireless, public-safety systems courtesy of Motorola

Miami-Dade County launched free wireless service at the city’s Tamiami Park today in conjunction with a public-safety initiative. The launch is part of the Wireless Miami-Dade Initiative, a six-month pilot project that supports free wireless service and public safety communictions and is sponsored by Motorola. Wireless security cameras were installed throughout the park and police vehicles equipped with laptops let officers log on and view real-time video of the park and fair grounds, according to Motorola.
