Report: WLAN Equipment sales in China to increase

Sep 24, 2004 12:00 PM

Research firm In-Stat/MRD recently published a report that indicates that revenues from wireless LAN equipment sales in China will increase by about 33% over the next four years, from $54 million in 2004 to nearly $160 million in 2008. Driving the increase will be increased sales of notebook computers and personal digital assistants, which are coming down in price and which contribute to increased WLAN usage, the report said. While penetration rates currently are “very low,” notebook computer sales are expected to increase 30% this year, and “an increasing number of those will be shipped with WLAN capability,” the report said.
