Vectron Energy turns to automatic meter reading

Vectron Energy Delivery of Ohio will deploy an additional 60,000 automatic meter reading (AMR) modules manufactured by Itron by first quarter 2006, bringing to 115,000 the total number of gas meters in the utility’s footprint that can be remotely read.

Vectron has about 330,000 gas meters in total. The meters will be accessible via radio signal by a utility vehicle equipped with a portable computer. The AMR-equipped meters will be accessible via radio signal by a utility vehicle equipped with a portable computer.
