Kenwood USA’s Communications Sector recently announced that the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association has designated the company as its official supplier of radio communications equipment for all events in which it participates, including the 2006 Winter Olympics scheduled to be held next month in Torino, Italy. Kenwood will supply 180 Series portables and accessories as part of a multi-year contract, the company said. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

In other news, the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta has selected Kenwood USA as its official supplier. More than 100 security and customer service personnel will carry TK-3173 portables, and the company has installed a custom trunking system in the 505,000-square-foot building. The Georgia Aquarium, which opened in November 2005, is billed as the world’s largest, with 8 million gallons of fresh and salt water and 100,000 animals representing 500 species.
