Ambulance service receives in-vehicle mobile data

Emergency medical personnel employed by Greenwood, Colo.-based American Medical Response are receiving critical data in the field using a wireless gateway from In Motion Technology.

In Motion's onBoard Mobile Gateway (OMG) 1000 lets EMTs communicate with hospital personnel by providing a wireless LAN extension over Cingular Wireless' EDGE network. In addition, they can access medical applications stored on the OMG 1000's 30 GB hard drive. The OMG 1000 also provides automatic vehicle location and in-car navigation capabilities, In Motion said.
