Michigan cities create Wi-Fi zone

Sep 1, 2005 12:00 PM

Kentwood and Grand Rapids, Mich., together have launched HotSpots/CoolCity, a wireless broadband demonstration network provided by Vivato and Pronto Networks.

The deployment consists of 10 network sites that provide coverage over an area that extends about a half-mile in all directions around Kentwood's city hall. The network sites are being deployed and operated at the vendors' expense. Use of the network will be free to all users during the eight-week demonstration period.
