Cisco solution tracks 802.11 devices

Cisco recently introduced the Cisco 2700 Series Wireless Location Appliance, which lets network managers simultaneously track thousands of IEEE 802.11-enabled wireless clients from directly within a customer's existing wireless local area network (LAN) infrastructure.
The solution uses the radio frequency fingerprinting capabilities of the company’s Wireless Control System (WCS) to locate authorized or unauthorized 802.11-enabled devices--including laptops, personal digital assistants, voice over wireless LAN handsets, rogue access points, and clients and devices equipped with 802.11 radio frequency identification tags--to within a few meters. It has a U.S. list price of $14,995 and is scheduled to ship in June 2005.
