Tennessee utility to deploy Radio Satellite AVL system

Radio Satellite Integrators (RSI) said it has won a contract from Consolidated Utility District (CUD) to deploy its automatic vehicle location system.
The system combines GPS, two-way radio, and ESRI ArcGIS mapping software to provide real-time vehicle fleet location data to dispatchers and administrators. The system sends data wirelessly from vehicles to a base station, information such as location/address, speed, and time stopped. The system also can be integrated to communicate with various devices on the vehicle, such as laptop computers, ID readers, bar code readers, door and light sensors, engine health, RSI said.
CUD is the largest rural water utility district in Tennessee and provides services to more than 38,000 customers. It will use the AVL system to track its fleet of more than 60 vehicles and to coordinate vehicle operations, according to RSI.
