Nextel posts $1.5 billion profit for 2003

Nextel Communications announced it recorded net income of $1.54 billion for fiscal 2003—$1.41 per share—an 11% gain over the previous year, when the company’s net income was $1.39 billion. Netxel also reported 2003 revenues of $10.8 billion, a 24% increase year over year. The carrier added 2.3 million during 2003, bringing total subscribers to 12.9 million at the end of the year. Nextel predicted earnings per share would increase to $2.00 or more for fiscal 2004.
