Jul 1, 2006 12:00 PM
San Antonio-based SBC Communications is offering local area hospitals a wireless local area network for voice and data communications. The service includes WLAN equipment from Cisco and wireless telephones from SpectraLink. The system uses 802.11b wireless networking standards and lets caregivers use wireless phones in hospital areas where it once wasn't allowed due to interference with medical monitors and equipment.
