Base station and subscriber units operate in public-safety band

San Jose, Calif.-based Proxim Wireless announced it has expanded its public-safety and homeland security product line to include the Tsunami MP.11 4954-R point-to-multipoint base station and subscriber units, and the QuickBridge.11 4954-R point-to-point bridge. The products now support networks operating on the 4.9 MHz frequency band, according to the company.

In other news, Nexen Petroleum, a global energy company, selected Proxim’s WiMAX product line of ruggedized base stations and subscriber units to support an oil-field expansion in its Canadian East Al-Hajr oilfield in Yemen.
